Matt Carmer

I started learning and apprenticing in the tattoo world back in 1999 where I was trained under the watchful eye of Chris Newman (RIP). After professionally piercing for a year, I moved to Vincennes University where I continued body piercing up until I began to dabble in tattooing. After receiving my degree in Fine Arts from Indiana State University, I moved to Fort Wayne where I learned under the watchful eye of the legendary Dave Knox and Steve Wildman Arnett. After moving a few times, Dark Horse went from becoming a dream to a reality. Without these people to guide and influence me, it’s difficult to imagine where I would be now. Much thanks and respect to those that came before us and paved the road for the next generation of tattooers.
